I am an abstract painter. My paintings begin with drawing. I make my surface then lay down eyes, figures, text and forms before any paint touches the surface. These drawn elements become the quiet structure of the work, sometimes visible, sometimes buried, shaping what comes after.
I build the surface through rolling, dragging and erasing, letting colour accumulate and fracture. The pink grounds and blue drips in my recent work create a softness that is quickly unsettled by scratches, shifts and the persistence of the drawings beneath. My painting Pink Shell acts as a small anchor—curved, protective shapes that sit against more confrontational marks.
Text appears occasionally, not to be read but to interrupt. I’m interested in how something delicate can hold something sharp, and how a painting can reveal and obscure at the same time. Each work becomes a site of tension, persistence and quiet insistence.
